Today, finally, I bought мушмули (moushmouli, aka, medlars) from a baba on the street, all that she had: 5 kilo for 4 leva. It had been a year since tasting one, which is too long, but that"s the result of seasonal fruits -- and a nice thing to anticipate.
I also bough Jerusalem artichoke from an old man, which, this year, I was permitted to buy -- trying to buy them last year, the baba selling them told me that "they are for people with kidney stones (I think that"s what she said?); you"re young and don"t need them". I just like the taste!

Yesterday, I bought кладница (Pleurotus ostreatus) from a man on the street (бул "Янко Сакъзов"), about 3/4 kg for 4 leva. These are the most beautiful little grey-brown mushrooms, and tasty, too, sauteed in olive oil with thyme, two whole cloves of garlic, chopped parsley, salt and lots of black pepper.
