First snow
It snowed on Saturday night. And it lasted till Sunday afternoon. Then the rain came again and washed it all away.

It was a nice pink woolen sweater.
And then the laundromat washed it instead of dry cleaning it... and now it would fit a five-year-old. Bah.
I must say that I"m glad that Sofia has Russian restaurants, because they"re very nice. In the past three days, we"ve been to two different ones: Restoran Moskva (Ресторан Москва) and Gara za Dvama (Гара за двама). Completely different atmospheres, but both have very good service and food.
At Moskva, we had the most fabulous bottle of wine: Telish Chalet Merlot 2003. This is what is has won:

The first sip was like, wow, cherries. And the next morning, there was no headache, no hang-over, nothing.

President Number Two
So Nicolas Sarkozy, the new president of France, came to Bulgaria today. He"s shorter than our president (Georgi Purvanov), but probably has better teeth. While I got to meet Sarkozy, I didn"t get to meet the one I really, really wanted to meet: Sergei Stanishev.
Bah.
I arrived late at the photo session and the security guards thought that I was French, so they let me through.
It was fun, though.
Does Stanishev ever wear another colour of tie besides red or blue?

Good-bye Catherine, or how my house is now empty again
My darling friend CAP came to visit me from New Jersey for 2.5 days. Yes, yes, but at least she came. And I was so happy! And we had a delightful time, and we just talked and wandered and it was like we had never been apart.
She left on Sunday early morning, and a few hours later, M from Nis came to stay for two nights. He took the GRE here in Sofia. It"s fun having people in the house, be they friends, or from Hospitality Club.
Interesting what M shared about Serbia -- the average income here in Bulgaria is about 170 euro a month; in his country it is about 360 euro a month. And Bulgaria is in the European Union? He said that my landlady needed to replace my windows; I agree.
Weird. I mean, I love Bulgaria and all, but things sure are messed up here. They seem better next door (but I don"t want to live there :).
